Bristol City vs West Bromwich Albion match preview

Two sides separated by just a solitary point amid the early going in the Championship are set to lock horns at Ashton Gate this Saturday, September 16th.

The matchup in question will see Bristol City act as hosts, in a meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

Beginning with the former, Bristol, for their part, have enjoyed a solid-if-unspectacular opening to the new season.

All told, Nigel Pearson’s troops have managed just wins, two draws, and a defeat across their five outings to date.

After two without victory, meanwhile, the Robins bounced back in their final outing heading into the international break.

This came as a trip to the Liberty Stadium saw the visitors recover from an early goal down, to eventually emerge on the right side of a 2-1 result owing to strikes on the part of Mark Sykes and Sam Bell.

Such efforts, all told, leave Bristol City 8th in the table, in the knowledge that a 2nd victory on the spin could catapult them into the early-season playoff picture.

Turning attentions towards Saturday’s visitors to Ashton Gate, West Brom, as alluded to above, currently sit a point back of their hosts-in-waiting in England’s 2nd tier.

The Baggies have also managed a pair of wins to date, but been condemned to two defeats, too.

After racking up seven points from an available nine, Carlos Corberan and co. were brought back down to earth in a major way in their final outing before the international break.

This came as a home meeting with winless Huddersfield Town saw a last-gasp Jack Rudoni effort guide the Terriers to a 2-1 triumph.

Boasting an impressive record of 10 goals scored from their opening five fixtures, though, could West Brom bounce back later today?

We at 101 are not backing quite that, instead envisioning an eventual sharing of the spoils come the full-time whistle at Ashton Gate.
