Steve Bruce’s days as Albion manager look numbered after his side suffered another defeat during midweek to Preston North End – the lowest-scoring side in the league. That made it three losses and two draws from their last five games, finding themselves in the relegation zone.
This was unthinkable at the start of the campaign, with the Baggies squad well-equipped for a promotion challenge and fans expected the playoffs at least. Lose again here and Bruce will surely find himself out of a job. Remarkably, they are favourites for this clash, with bookies giving the home win odds of 19/20.
Opponents Luton have climbed up the table after a shaky start, recapturing some of the form that saw them earn a playoff spot last season. Nathan Joes will be disappointed his side wasn’t able to take all three points last time out though, after being held to a 3-3 draw against struggling Huddersfield Town.
Surprisingly, despite being in much better form than West Brom, they are outsiders to win at the Hawthornes. Bookies are pricing the Luton win at 13/5 which could be well worth a punt given the mood around the midlands club.
