Blackpool vs Cardiff City match preview

Two sides in the thick of the battle against relegation from the Championship are set to lock horns at Bloomfield Road on Friday, April 7th.

The matchup in question will see Blackpool act as hosts, in a meeting with Cardiff City.

Beginning with the former, Blackpool are primed to head into this evening’s action in the midst of a dismal stretch of form.

A bizarre 6-1 drubbing of Queens Park Rangers aside, Mick McCarthy’s troops have failed to emerge on the right side of the result in six of their last seven.

Not only that, but five of these fixtures culminated in defeat, including each of their last two.

Most recently, a trip to Deepdale to face Preston North End saw Jerry Yates’ late finish prove little more than a consolation, en route to a 3-1 Lilywhites triumph.

And set to make the visit to Bloomfield Road on Friday are none other than the side occupying the final survival berth in England’s 2nd tier.

Cardiff, for their part, sit 21st in the table at present.

Not only that, but, owing to a combination of Huddersfield’s resurgence, and their own recent struggles, the Bluebirds find themselves outside the bottom three only by way of goal difference.

After looking as though they had turned a corner courtesy of back-to-back wins over Birmingham City and Reading back in February, Cardiff have since majorly struggled.

All told, the club’s last five have given rise to just a solitary victory, alongside a trio of defeats.

Not only that, but, last time out, in their post-international break return to the pitch, Sabri Lamouchi’s men surrendered a share of the spoils in the most heartbreaking manner imaginable, upon Swansea City’s Ben Cabango slotting home a South Wales Derby winner a full eight minutes into injury time.

And yet, despite as much, we at 101 view Cardiff, just, as favourites to take all three points at Bloomfield Road later today.
