Blackburn Rovers vs Hull City match preview

Two sides separated by a solitary point amid the early going in the Championship season are set to lock horns at Ewood Park this Saturday, August 19th.

The matchup in question will see Blackburn Rovers act as hosts, in a meeting with Hull City.

Beginning with the former, Blackburn, for their part, kicked the club’s campaign into gear in solid fashion, first getting the better of West Bromwich Albion on opening day, before sending Walsall packing from the EFL Cup.

And this was followed, last weekend, by a trip to the New York Stadium, to face Rotherham United.

It was hosts Rotherham who raced out into an early advantage in the clash, only for the dismissal of Fred Onyedinma early in the 2nd-half to see the momentum swing in Blackburn’s favour.

And, from here, it was Sammie Szmodics who proved himself the hero, notching a brace to guide Blackburn to a share of the spoils, and keep the club’s unbeaten start to the term alive.

This came, first, as the Tigers were put to the sword on opening day, by way of a Norwich City winner a full six minutes into injury time.

Then, Liam Rosenior’s men were ousted from the EFL Cup at the first hurdle, by League Two Doncaster Rovers.

Safe to say, then, that their return to winning ways last time out proved an altogether timely one.

After welcoming newly-promoted Sheffield Wednesday to the MKM Stadium, Hull did enough to emerge on the right side of a six-goal thriller.

Ozan Tufan proved himself the hero, notching a hat-trick, with Aaron Connolly having also been on target en route to a 4-2 final scoreline.

So, all of this considered, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action at Ewood Park playing out?

We believe that hosts Blackburn should be considered the favourites, albeit with Hull boasting a solid chance of springing a surprise, to emerge from proceedings with a share of the spoils.
