Blackburn Rovers vs Burnley match preview

Two sides eyeing a return to winning ways are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Ewood Park this Tuesday, April 25th.

The matchup in question will see Blackburn Rovers play host to Burnley, in the latest edition of the east Lancashire derby.

Beginning with the former, Blackburn currently find themselves in the midst of a concerning stretch of form.

Amid ongoing efforts to clinch a precious spot in the top-six, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s troops have stuttered at the most inopportune time, now riding a seven-game winless streak across all competitions.

Not only that, but each of their last two outings have seen Rovers surrender all three points deep into injury-time.

After first falling victim to one of the stories of the season, when Coventry City goalkeeper Ben Wilson snatched a point at Ewood Park with essentially the last kick of the game, last time out, Blackburn made the trip to Deepdale, to take on Preston North End.

And yet, Blackburn may nevertheless fancy their chances of finally getting things back on track on Tuesday night.

This comes with upcoming opponents Burnley having endured a less than fruitful time of things of late themselves.

All told, the last two weeks have seen Vincent Kompany’s troops notch just two points from an available nine.

Of course, this follows the Clarets confirming their promotion back to the top-flight, since taking their foot very much off the gas ahead of an expected title win, too.

Most recently, a home meeting with a relegation-battling Queens Park Rangers outfit saw Manuel Benson’s late effort look set to be enough to clinch a share of the spoils for Burnley, only for Chris Martin to find a decisive winner for the visitors three minutes from time.

The Clarets nevertheless remain comfortably clear of 2nd-placed Sheffield United in the table, but no doubt keen to restore some pride later this evening.

We at 101, in turn, are backing an eventual stalemate to play out, come the full-time whistle between Blackburn and Burnley at Ewood Park.
