Birmingham City vs Millwall match preview

A Birmingham City outfit hopeful of continuing a fine start to the new campaign are set to act as hosts, in a Championship meeting with Millwall this Saturday, September 2nd.

The Blues, for their part, have proven one of the surprise packages of the opening weeks of the term in England’s 2nd tier.

All told, John Eustace’s troops have battled their way to 10 points from an available 12, good enough for a spot in 3rd in the table.

This stretch includes a trio of wins on the spin, the former two of which came by way of clean sheets against Leeds United and Bristol City.

Then, last time out, Birmingham played host to newly-promoted Plymouth Argyle.

And though their performance left a considerable sum to be desired, the Blues, in the end, emerged on the right side of the result, thanking a last-gasp Jay Stansfield finish for an eventual 2-1 win.

Turning attentions towards the day’s visitors, Millwall, for their part, have endured an altogether more hit-and-miss start to the 2023/24 season.

The Lions kicked things into gear with a hard-fought victory on the road, at struggling Middlesbrough.

This was followed, however, by a trio of successive defeats across all competitions, including, most notably, a 4-0 home drubbing at the hands of League One Reading in the League Cup.

Safe to say, then, that a return to winning ways last weekend will no doubt have marked a welcome relief for all associated with Millwall.

After welcoming Stoke City to The Den, a solitary Kevin Nisbet strike ultimately proved enough to condemn the visiting Potters to defeat.

Gary Rowett and co, in turn, find themselves sitting in mid-table after four rounds of the term in England’s 2nd tier.

So, all of this considered, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action playing out at St. Andrew’s Stadium?

We are backing hosts Birmingham, just, to emerge on the right side of the scoreline.
