Match preview

Two sides fresh off altogether contrasting results last time out are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at St. Andrew’s on Wednesday, November 2nd.

The matchup in question will see Birmingham City play host to Millwall.

Beginning with the former, Birmingham secured a head-turning victory this past weekend, to climb back into mid-table in England’s 2nd tier.

This came courtesy of a 2-0 downing of promotion-chasing Queens Park Rangers, which saw Emmanuel Longelo add to Arsenal loanee Auston Trusty’s early Goal of the Season contender.

This brought to an end a shaky recent stretch of form on the part of the Blues, which had seen them secure just a solitary point from an available six.

Nevertheless, John Eustace’s men now sit just three points adrift of their upcoming opponents, and a further two off the promotion playoff spots.

Keep an eye on hitman Scott Hogan when it comes to potential goalscorers in midweek, with the Irish international fresh off two goals in his last three appearances.

Turning attentions towards Wednesday’s visitors, Millwall were brought back down to earth with a thud over the weekend.

The Lions made the trip to relegation-battling Huddersfield Town with spirits high in the camp, fresh off a Championship-best four wins on the trot.

When all was said and done, however, an altogether lacklustre display ultimately culminated in Gary Rowett’s troops being put to the sword by a goal to nil.

Millwall, in turn, saw their charge towards the playoff positions halted in its tracks.

Safe to say, then, that the east Londoners will be desperate for a swift return to winning ways at St. Andrew’s, a result which could see them emerge from the upcoming gameweek sitting as high as 5th in the table.

We at 101, though, are nevertheless backing the spoils to eventually be shared come the full-time whistle on Wednesday, owing to a tightly-contested 90 minutes.
