Birmingham City vs Leeds United match preview

Two sides eyeing their first win of the Championship season are set to lock horns at St. Andrew’s Stadium on Saturday, August 12th.

The matchup in question will see Birmingham City act as hosts, in a meeting with Leeds United.

Beginning with the former, Birmingham, for their part, battled their way to a hard-fought point on opening day in England’s 2nd tier.

This came courtesy of a trip to Wales, to face Swansea City.

The Blues opened the scoring at the Liberty Stadium, upon Siriki Dembele bending home a fine finish from the edge of the penalty area.

Swansea, though, ultimately battled back, levelling things up inside the closing quarter of an hour to see the spoils shared.

Hopeful of preventing as much on Saturday afternoon will be the aforementioned Leeds United.

Like Birmingham, Leeds too were forced to settle for a solitary point on opening weekend.

The Whites, though, will be altogether more satisfied with their haul, after battling back from two goals down.

With 45 minutes on the clock in a home meeting with Cardiff City, Daniel Farke’s side found themselves with their backs against the wall, owing to strikes on the part of Josh Bowler and Ike Ugbo.

After Liam Cooper pulled one back on the other side of the interval, though, Crysencio Summerville proved himself the hero, courtesy of an equaliser a full five minutes into injury time.

All things considered, we at 101 are therefore backing Saturday’s St. Andrew’s clash between Birmingham and Leeds to play out into a hotly-contested draw.
