Augsburg will be aiming for their third win since the World Cup break after moving way clear of the relegation zone following on from a narrow victory over Bayer Leverkusen with Mainz up next at the MEWA Arena.

Mainz remain well clear of the drop zone despite their tough run of form since the finals in Qatar. Bo Svensson’s men have only beaten VfL Bochum 5-2, but this was their most impressive victory of the campaign.

Augsburg have only beaten Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach since action resumed in Germany by 1-0 scorelines each. Combine this with a 4-3 loss to Borussia Dortmund and a 3-1 defeat to Freiburg and it means they now sit just behind Mainz in 13th.
