Freiburg will look to get their fourth win in a row and stamp down a real authority on the Champions League spots this weekend when they play hosts to Bayer Leverkusen at the Stade Europa-Park on Sunday as Xabi Alonso’s men have now dropped into 10th.

Leverkusen have already had a thrilling week. The club managed to defeat Monaco 3-2 in the Europa League on Thursday before then beating the Ligue 1 giants on penalties to set up a tie with Ferencvaros in early March.

Despite the positive form in Europe, Alonso’s side remain in terrible form in on the domestic front. They lost once again last weekend to Mainz, which now means just three wins and three losses in the Bundesliga since the winter break ended.

Freiburg, however, are back on course after getting smashed across Signal Iduna Park by Borussia Dortmund. They eased past Sandhausen in the DFB-Pokal shortly after, as they’ve now won two in a row in the Bundesliga.

Stuttgart and Bochum both fell to defeats against Breisgau-Brasilianer recently and they are now into fourth and ahead of RB Leipzig in fourth by one point.
