Augsburg are in search of just their win second since the World Cup break after falling to another defeat last time out ahead of playing hosts to Bayer Leverkusen at the Augsburg Arena with the away side up into ninth after a topsy-turvy run.
Similarly to last season, Leverkusen have struggled this campaign. The club head into this one having let in four goals in three games, having lost to Borussia Dortmund last time out.
Prior to this, they managed to defeat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-2 in a fantastic away win that say Mitchel Bakker, Amine Adli and Nadiem Amiri all scored a goal each. Xabi Alonso then battled with VfL Bochum and beat them 2-0 after Edmond Tapsoba and Adam Hlozek scored a goal each in either half.
As for Augsburg, they remain just above the relegation zone heading into this one with a spot in 14th. The club are two points above Stuttgart in 15th and Bochum in 16th, and with 23 goals scored, they are the highest-scoring side from the bottom five teams.
The club fell back into the losing column last time out, however, as Freiburg secured a 3-1 win over them after narrowly beating Gladbach 1-0 just three days prior.
