Newcastle’s Demba Ba tells French TV “Arsenal are one of those teams who makes you dream”

Newcastle striker Demba Ba has issued a pretty clear “come-and-get-me” plea on French Television on Sunday evening.

The money quote from the Newcastle hitman on Canal +, was: “Arsenal are one of those teams who makes you dream.”

Ba also said: “I have nothing to say about speculations [ linking him with Arsenal]. Nothing has happened. The media know Arsenal need another striker and they know about my release clause. They need to make their own mind up about it.”

Liverpool are expected to challenge Arsenal for the signature of Ba, who can leave Newcastle if his £7million release clause is met in the January transfer window.

Reports in the Sunday Mirror claimed Ba would be holding out for £90,000-a-week in wages after rejecting Newcastle’s offer of £70,000-a-week.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been tipped to move for Ba due to Theo Walcott’s ongoing contract negotiations and with Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh heading to the African Nations in January.

Ba though has a history of medical problems and failed to sign for Stoke in January 2011 due to injury issues. The 27-year-old has notched 11 goals for Newcastle this season.
