Lionel Messi may not have had the game of his life tonight, but he’ll hardly care: he’s helped Argentina qualify for their first World Cup final since Maradona’s 1986 side, and played a major part in doing so.
Messi scored his penalty in the shoot-out against Holland, but wasn’t able to bask in the celebrations as long as he’d wished – he was called for an anti-doping test by FIFA.
Unperturbed, Messi basked in the moment as he waited for his test, and posted an Instagram message in which he heaped all the credit on his teammates:
‘I’ve been called for doping control and I can’t be enjoying the moment in the dressing room.
I feel proud to be part of this team! Phenomenons every one of them! What a game they had. This is crazy. We’re in the final! Let’s enjoy this, a hug to all of Argentina, we have just one step left.
