Revealed: Barcelona’s two ‘priority’ signings

An insight into the plans of the powers that be at Spanish giants Barcelona for the remainder of the transfer window has been provided on Thursday.

The transfer team at the Camp Nou, of course, have been hard at work across the summer to date.

Despite having spent less than €4 million in official fees, Barca have added a trio of players to Xavi Hernandez’s squad.

To this point, all of Inigo Martinez, Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu have opted to take their talents to Catalunya, adding both experience and talent to the Blaugrana’s ever-improving ranks.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, then Joan Laporta and co. are far from ready to rest on their laurels.

Instead, a further pair of players, it is understood, have been identified as ‘priority’ signings.

Coaxing Spurs into a sale could prove a tough ask, though, with Ange Postecoglou said to be a keen admirer of the talents of the Argentine international.

And joining Lo Celso on the Camp Nou wishlist is Joao Cancelo.

As per Spanish journalist Javi Miguel, Manchester City star Cancelo has made his way to the top of Xavi’s list of candidates for the right-back berth in Catalunya’s capital.

It remains to be seen whether an agreement can be reached with Manchester City, however, with Barca understood to be keen on a loan deal for the Portuguese.
