Bayer Leverkusen in ‘positive negotiations’ for Liverpool defender

Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are locked in ongoing negotiations over the potential signing of an up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at Liverpool, according to reports.

The Reds starlet in question? Luke Chambers.

For those not familiar with his name, Chambers is a left-back, who has spent the last 13 years working his way through the academy ranks on the red half of Merseyside.

Sitting behind the likes of Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in the first-team pecking order under the watch of Jurgen Klopp, however, the 19-year-old was loaned out for the first time this past January.

Chambers made the move to Scotland, enjoying a fruitful stint on the books of Kilmarnock.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Saturday is anything to go by, then the England youth international could soon be on the move once more.

As per a report from Florian Plettenberg of Sky, Leverkusen, currently managed by former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso, are ‘very interested’ in Chambers.

Negotiations between the respective boards at Anfield and the BayArena, in turn, are labelled as both ‘ongoing’ and ‘very positive’.

Any incoming agreement would be expected to come in the form of a loan, with a possible option to buy.
