Denmark vs San Marino match preview
Denmark’s start to Euro 2024 qualifying has been far from perfect, so they need to keep pace with the two teams above them.
Back in March, despite racing into a 2-0 lead, de Rød-Hvide were actually beaten 3-2 in Kazakhstan, conceding three times in a crazy final 15 minutes at Astana Arena.
Then, last time out Kasper Hjulmand’s team were held to a 1-1 draw by Slovenia at Stadion Stožice, courtesy of Rasmus Højlund’s equaliser shortly before half time.
The Euro 2020 semi-finalists have beaten both Finland and Northern Ireland in Copenhagen, albeit the latter was very narrow, but are being made to work hard to get through this group.
Here though, Denmark should cruise to victory.
That’s because San Marino are yet to get off the mark in Group H, most-recently beaten 3-0 by Kazakhstan and 6-0 in Finland in June.
So, Denmark will increase their points tally by three and their goal-difference count by substantially more at Parken.
Denmark team news
Manchester United’s new signing Rasmus Højlund is currently the joint-top scorer in Euro 2024 qualifying with six, including bagging a hat-trick against Finland on matchday one.
His club teammate Christian Eriksen will win his 123rd cap, while Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is hoping for some much-needed game-time, having not featured very much at Spurs so far this season.
Captain Simon Kjær will earn cap number 127, leaving him just two shy of Peter Schmeichel’s all-time record.
San Marino team news
Elia Benedettini will win his 42nd cap in goal; to date he’s conceded 138 goals and kept only two clean sheets.
