World Cup 2022

Tunisia betting tips, news and predictions

Tunisia have been to less than a handful of FIFA World Cups. They withdrew from the 1966 tournament, which England won, before then finally making their first appearance in 1978 in Argentina.

They were drawn in a group alongside Mexico, Poland and West Germany. They beat Mexico but then lost to Poland and drew with Germany, failing to make it out of the group as a result.

Tunisia then had to wait another 20 years before qualifying for another World Cup in 1998 where they were once again knocked out at the group stage.

They have since featured at the 2002, 2006, and 2018 World Cups and are yet to make it out of a group, and are drawn this time with France, Australia and Denmark.

Tunisia to win the World Cup - 350/1

Tunisia are unlikely to make it out of their group

A £10 bet at 350/1 would return £3510!

World Cup 2022

Having won just two games in their World Cup history, the likelihood of Tunisia progressing in the tournament is highly unlikely, especially given the strength of their group. An early exit is highly likely.

Wahbi Khazri to win the golden boot - 200/1

Khazri has been on the international scene for a while, with 24 goals in 71 appearances

At 200/1, a £10 bet on Khazri would return £2010

World Cup 2022

Khazri scored twice at the 2018 World Cup - against Belgium and Panama - so he has pedigree in the tournament, but with Tunisia likely to be up against it in their group, will be a long way off getting the type of chances needed to compete.

Jalel Kadri

Kadri was appointed Tunisia manager in January of 2022. Before that he was the assistant manger for around six months. He also enjoyed a brief spell as the country’s assistant manager back in 2013.

Kadri was handed the management role after Mondher Kebaier was sacked following a disappointing African Cup of Nations that saw Tunisia knocked out of the quarter-finals by Burkina Faso.

Kadri has since taken charge of six matches, winning four and drawing two. In all of those matches barring one, he has opted to use a 4-3-3 attacking variant.

Key players

Wahbi Khazri

Wahbi Khazri is likely known to most fans for his stint in the Premier League with Sunderland.

He has since left the North East outfit and continues to ply his trade in Ligue 1 with Montpellier where, despite being 31, he remains a key figure. He continues to provide a goal threat for his new side and is one of Tunisia’s best players.

The forward has featured over 60 times for Tunisia and is their second-top goalscorer of all time, behind Issam Jemma, who retired in 2014.

Fan expectation for Tunisia in the World Cup

TfootTunisia told 101: “The team has never progressed past the group stage. This World Cup seems different for the team and for the fans. Tunisians think it’s time they go beyond the group stage. They know it will be tough playing France, Denmark and Australia in Group D.

“But playing in an Arab country, in front of thousands of Tunisian fans should constitute an advantage. About 20.000 Tunisians live and work in Qatar. This is not the best generation of Tunisian players, but Jalel Kadri’s squad includes players with a quite good experience in European and African clubs: Nader Ghandri, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Ali Maaloul, Montassar Talbi, Aissa Laidouni, Elyas Skhiri, Issam Jebali and Hannibal Mejbri.”

101′s Tunisia World Cup Tip

Tunisia can be backed at 5/2 to make it out of their group with bet 365 or at 2/7 not to make it out.

Given they have been drawn alongside France, Denmark and Australia, it seems unlikely Tunisia will earn a top-two spot.
