Japan vs Spain betting tips: World Cup preview, prediction and odds

Match preview

Japan and Spain will meet in the final set of fixtures in Group E with the 2010 world champions all but through after a 1-1 draw with Germany just as Japan have everything to play for with them sitting with a draw and a loss so far.

Japan have come out of both games with completely contrasting emotions. They managed to stun Germany from behind with a 2-1 victory as both Bundesliga players, Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano, scored a goal each to cancel out Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty.

Against Costa Rica, however, practically every Japanese player was ineffective. They ended up with just three shots on target from 13 efforts and never tested Keylor Navas that greatly between the Costa Rica posts. Keysher Fuller would then go on to steal all three points in the last 10 minutes with a goal, although Gonda in the Japan net will no doubt be disappointed with his effort to save the shot from Fuller.

As for Spain, while Japan lost to Costa Rica, just four days prior, Spain broke records with a stunning 7-0 win – this was the highest-scoring victory for the Spanish in World Cup history. The 2010 World Cup winners were brought back down to earth slightly, however, as they drew 1-1 with Germany.

Alvaro Morata scored that day from another excellent team goal. Against a Japan side who have to win now, Morata and co. will likely get a bunch of chances.
