Tottenham’s difficult off-season
It is shaping up to be a massive summer at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Finishing the season in seventh place without a manager, Spurs qualified for the Europa Conference League, the third tier of European football.
Although they have seemingly sorted their management issue, with Fabio Paratici having already been announced as their New Director of football, and Paulo Fonseca due to take over as manager of the side.

Despite these encouraging building blocks, Spurs are set to be dealt a sizeable blow as Harry Kane looks to leave the North London club. Kane led the Premier League for both goals and assists in 2020-21, and has developed something of a telepathic connection with team-mate Heung-Min Son

Kane went on record saying that he wanted to leave the club this summer, and whilst Manchester City are keen on the striker, it is yet unclear as to whether he will be allowed to depart were an offer to come in.
Lamptey of interest to Spurs:
Were the Englishman to depart, a sizeable rebuild would be required from the lilywhites, as it would be impossible to directly replace the striker.
The funds may allow Tottenham to address a much-maligned position in their side, however. Right-back.
Serge Aurier has failed to impress since his move from PSG in August 2017, and has become known as a player who is capable of switching off at vital moments.

The Ivorian is rumoured to be close to an exit from North London, returning to his former club Paris Saint Germain, if the papers are to be believed.
When Jose Mourinho signed Matt Doherty from Wolves in the summer of 2020, it was thought that the right-back position had been sorted, but the Irishman has struggled to transition into a back four from the five that he was used to at his former club.
All this has meant that right-back remains a position of concern, and one of the players that the club are looking at to strengthen that position is Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey.
Lamptey, formerly a youth prospect at Chelsea, impressed early in the campaign. However, after just 11 appearances he was ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury.

It is unknown how much Brighton would demand for their young full-back, but Tottenham may feel that money is no issue having sold Harry Kane for a mammoth fee.
