Martinez is set to return to England in due course after winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina.
Argentina and France went head-to-head in the 2022 World Cup final on Sunday.
Argentina eventually picked up the win in what was arguably the greatest World Cup final of all time.
Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe squared off and both players shone on the day. Mbappe netted a hat-trick and scored his penalty in the shootout, whilst Messi netted two and scored his penalty in the shootout, which Argentina won 4-2.
Following the game, Scott McTominay has revealed what Lisandro Martinez said to him after winning the coveted trophy:
“I messaged Lisandro the other day and said congratulations,” explained McTominay. “He said: ‘We go for the next one’. He’s just won a World Cup, so that shows the mentality in the group.
“Success will always be winning trophies and that’s the most important thing at this football club. With the manager that we’ve got now, we’ve got a really good opportunity to start that journey, especially this year.”
Manchester United return to action on Wednesday evening vs Burnley – Martinez is not expected to feature.
