Official: Arsenal confirm sixth summer departure as defender leaves the club

Pablo Mari has joined Monza on loan

Arsenal have confirmed their sixth departure of the summer as Pablo Mari has joined Monza on loan, the Serie A website has confirmed.

Lucas Torreira and Bernd Leno have both departed the club on a permanent basis, while Nuno Tavares and Folarin Balogun have both left for Ligue 1 on loan, joining Marseille and Stade de Reims for the upcoming season respectively.

Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette has also left the club on a free transfer.

Mari is the latest to leave, joining Monza on an initial loan move that also contains an obligation to buy the Spanish defender should the club remain in the Italian top flight this season.

While Arsenal are yet to confirm the departure, the official website for Serie A has the defender listed as having moved to Monza on a temporary basis.

Bellerin next to leave?

Arsenal are not done on the outgoings front just yet, with several more players expected to depart before the September 1st deadline.

Defender Hector Bellerin appears to be the next most imminent departure, with the Spaniard and his agent having sat down with the club earlier in the week to discuss a potential mutual termination of his Arsenal contract, which is due to run out next summer.

His heart is set on a move to Betis, where he spent last season on loan. but the Spanish side do not have the finances to make a significant offer for the defender in terms of a transfer fee, and a mutual termination currently seems like the most likely option as the transfer window drags on.

Meanwhile, Runar Alex Runarsson is in talks with Turkish side Antalyaspor over a permanent move.

The Gunners have not given up on bringing more players into the club this transfer window either, despite having spent over £100m this summer in addition to their £150m outlay last summer.
