Neymar informs Paris Saint-Germain of his desire to leave this summer

The hectic transfer window could be set for another sale of a global superstar as Brazilian icon Neymar officially wants to leave French giants Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Per reports in L’Équipe, the 31-year-old star forward informed his management of his desire to part ways with the Parisian side, in a potential move that would see PSG potentially without any of its star attacking trip come the summer of 2024.

Neymar had previously decided to stay at the Parc des Princes last summer despite his management team trying to manufacture his departure on the back of being viewed as “persona non grata” according to LE, with the Brazilian still having five years remaining with the French hegemon.

Now, Neymar could be set for new pastures before the conclusion of the transfer window, which could see PSG in a bit of a quandary.

Having already watched Lionel Messi leave the club for MLS side Inter Miami, PSG was already coping with the reality that Kylian Mbappé looks primed to walk out on a free transfer in less than twelve months amid concerns that he has already agreed a pre-contract with Real Madrid, and as such, has seen the French superstar training separately from the first-team.

Should Neymar also leave this summer, there is little time for the club to source two, if not three replacements for its forward line, with current options in the city of lights coming down to Hugo Ekitiké, Marco Asensio, and Julian Draxler should Neymar move and Mbappé remain isolated for the duration of the 2023-24 campaign.
