Darwin Nunez joins Mo Salah in exclusive Liverpool club after besting Haaland in Liverpool’s Community Shield triumph

The Uruguayan rounded out a fine evening for all associated with Liverpool on Saturday.

Summer arrival Darwin Nunez’s late strike in Liverpool’s win over Manchester City this afternoon saw the talented attacker join the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in an exclusive club.

Jurgen Klopp’s troops, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

After Mohamed Salah first stepped up to slot home from the penalty spot in style, the aforementioned Nunez rounded out the scoring in Leicester, courtesy of a poacher’s finish:

And, as alluded to above, in the process, Liverpool’s big-money summer addition etched his name into the recent history books on the red half of Merseyside.

As per statisticians Opta, Nunez today became just the 4th player to find the net on his Liverpool debut under Jurgen Klopp, joining fabled trio Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk:

Adding ever further to the woes of defeated Manchester City on the day, meanwhile, was the Sky Blues’ own high-profile summer reinforcement up top fluffing his lines in spectacular fashion after being presented with a late chance to bag a debut goal in the colours of his new club:
