Two sides to have endured contrasting fortunes over the course of the last week are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Home Park this Saturday, September 2nd.

The clash in question will see Plymouth Argyle act as hosts, in a meeting with Blackburn Rovers.

Beginning with the former, Plymouth, for their part, have had an altogether tough time of things of late.

After enjoying a solid start to their return to England’s 2nd tier, the Pilgrims’ form has since fallen off in alarming fashion.

All told, Steven Schumacher’s troops have now been condemned to a trio of successive defeats across all competitions.

After being downed by both Southampton and Birmingham City, Plymouth, in midweek, played host to Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.

Upcoming opponents Blackburn Rovers, in turn, could well fancy their chances of adding ever further to the woes of Schumacher and co. later today.

This comes with confidence high in the camp at Ewood Park, on the back of an altogether more fruitful couple of weeks.

Like Plymouth, Blackburn managed a total of four points from the first three Championship gameweeks, owing to an identical record of an opening day victory, followed by a draw, and then a defeat.

Unlike their hosts in waiting, however, Rovers, last weekend, managed a return to winning ways.

A trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford ultimately saw Ryan Hedges’ finish a little over 15 minutes from time prove enough for a 1-0 triumph.

Not only that, but Blackburn followed up with a remarkable result in midweek, when no fewer than seven members of Tomasson’s squad managed to find the net, en route to an 8-0 drubbing of Harrogate Town.

So, all of this considered, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action playing out at Home Park?

Visitors Blackburn should of course be considered favourites, but, despite their form, we would actually not be at all surprised to see Plymouth battle their way to a hard-fought share of the spoils in England’s southwest.
