Hibernian vs Aberdeen betting tips: Scottish Premiership preview, predictions and odds

[RECOMMENDED_BETS]

All three meetings between these two this season have produced home wins. In fact, seven of their last nine encounters have been won by the hosts.

Both teams to score is 1/1.

Hibs to win and both teams to score is 9/2.

Elias Hoff Melkersen is 9/2 to break the deadlock and 5/2 to score anytime.

Lewis Ferguson is looking to score in three successive Premiership appearances for the first time ever. He’s 6/1 to open the scoring and 9/4 to achieve this.

Match preview

These two big clubs are usually battling it out for European qualification and cup final places, but not this time.

July is usually the time for European trips, but next season will begin with the League Cup group stages against lower-league opposition for both.

Of the two, Hibs are one place and two points better off, sat in eighth.

However, they were beaten 1-0 at the Tony Macaroni Arena by Livingston last weekend, so have won just two of 14 league games in 2022.

David Gray remains in interim charge after Shaun Maloney was sacked last month, following a mere 19 games as manager.

Aberdeen meanwhile parted company with Stephen Glass in February but his successor, Jim Goodwin, hasn’t enjoyed many wins since arriving.

Last weekend, the Dons did, finally, claim three points, beating bottom of the table Dundee 1-0 at Pittodrie.

Lewis Ferguson converting a penalty in that one; he’s scored 15 of the 16 spot-kicks he’s taken in his senior career.

However, that was just Goodwin’s second victory from nine matches, the other a 3-1 victory over Hibernian in March.

Will either leave Easter Road victorious?

Hibernian team news

Goals have been Hibs’ biggest problem this season with Martin Boyle having departed and Kevin Nisbet out due to a long-term injury.

January signing Chris Mueller, who arrived on a free transfer from Orlando City, has made 15 appearances but less than half of these have been starts.

So, having scored just once in Scotland, the winger is set to move bake State-side with his home-tow club Chicago Fire attempting to acquire his services.

Without his, Elias Hoff Melkersen, who’s also yet to score in the Premiership, and James Scott could continue to lead the line.

At centre-back, Ryan Porteous is available again after serving his four game ban, handed to him following Hibs’ trip to Aberdeen in March.

Aberdeen team news

Christian Ramirez has scored 15 goals since arriving at Aberdeen, but the last of those came against Motherwell back on 12 February.

He’ll be desperate for that goal draught to end, with Vicente Besuijen and Jonny Hayes completing the front three.

This game is another opportunity for highly-rated right-back Calvin Ramsay to impress; he’s set to move for big money this summer.
