Match preview

The Coppa Italia quarter-finals get underway with holders Internazionale looking to stay on course to retain their trophy.

In the last 16, I Nerazzurri were very nearly dumped out by Serie B side Parma.

Lautaro Martínez equalised with just two minutes to go, before Francesco Acerbi snatched the win in extra time.

Meanwhile, in Serie A, Simone Inzaghi’s team are second, albeit 13 points below Napoli, after coming from behind to beat Cremonese on Saturday.

Martínez with a brace in that crucial victory at Stadio Giovanni Zini.

Inter retained the Coppa Italia in both 2006 and 2011, so will they move one step closer to repeating that feat this year?

La Dea are unbeaten in six matches since the World Cup break, winning four of them, including hammering Spezia 5-2 in the last round.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s team have also put eight past Salernitana in this period, and held Juventus to a 3-3 draw nine days ago.

Saturday night’s 2-0 victory over Sampdoria, Joakim Mæhle and Ademola Lookman scoring, means Atalanta are up to fourth in Serie A, leapfrogging A.C. Milan and Roma.

However, la Dea are winless in eight meetings with Inter, and haven’t beaten them at San Siro for nine years.

Who will prevail, thereby setting up a semi-final showdown with Juventus or Lazio?
