Sampdoria will be aiming to get back into the win column after losing to Napoli in Serie A last weekend following on form a positive win over Sassuolo with the club heading to the Carlo Castellani Stadium to meet with Empoli.
Empoli have managed to draw their first two games in 2023 and now sit down in 13th. On the other hand, it’s very doubtful we’ll see the club get sucked into a relegation battle with them 10 clear of the bottom three.
Empoli are still four adrift of the top 10, however, and scored the least goals in Serie A for those sitting outside of the relegation spots.
Quite remarkably, they managed to snatch a draw against Lazio in Rome last time out in the final 10 minutes of the game. Francesco Caputo scored in the 83rd minute, before Razvan Marin netted in the 93rd minute.
Sampdoria looked to be putting together a solid run of form after their fantastic results in the World Cup break that saw them scored more than 15 goals. They then beat Sassuolo 2-1 to register just their second win of the season.
