AC Milan will welcome Monza to San Siro this weekend as the champions go in search of their eighth win of the season as they look to stay hot on the heels of Atalanta and Napoli within the top two just as Monza eye up a place in the top half.
After going winless for the first six games in Serie A, Monza have finally found their feet in what is their first-ever outing in the Italian top flight this season. The club registered that famous win over Juventus just a month ago, and this was then meet with a stunning 3-0 win over Sampdoria and then a 2-0 victory against Spezia. It does mean they managed to win three on the spin, which is all they have to boast about in Serie A so far. They then met with Empoli last weekend and lost 1-0, as Nicolo Rovella was sent off – he now misses this game.
Monza also managed to beat the high-flying Udinese in the Coppa Italia in midweek, which means they have five wins this season in what has been a commendable effort from the Serie B playoff winners.
As for Milan, they are sitting three points behind Napoli ever since the loss to the Naples outfit at the San Siro. It remains their only loss in the league so far, and they could find themselves top of the table in a heartbeat, if other results go their way. On the other hand, consecutive losses to Chelsea home and away in the Champions League does mean they are once again struggling in Europe.
Milan should, however, ease to a win here.
