After both were beaten on the opening weekend, who will get their first points on the board in the Highlands?
A week ago, Ross County impressed at Celtic Park, but were ultimately beaten 4-2 by the champions, going 3-0 down by half time, before both Jordan White and James Brown were on target.
Malky Mackay’s team only survived courtesy of a remarkable comeback in June’s play-offs, defeating Partick Thistle on penalties having been 3-0 down with just 20 minutes to play.
So, the Staggies are determined to enjoy a more comfortable conclusion to this season.
Meantime, many are tipping St Johnstone for relegation, after the Saints were beaten by Stenhousemuir, Ayr United and then Stirling Albion, the latter ending 4-0, during the League Cup group stages.
Then, last Saturday, Steven MacLean’s team began the new league season with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Hearts at McDiarmid Park, both goals coming late.
The Saints’ next Premiership fixture is at Celtic Park in a fortnight, so defeat in Dingwall would leave them under enormous pressure, but a Ross County victory does seem appear to be the most likely outcome.
