Kilmarnock vs Rangers odds and betting statistics

Kilmarnock vs Rangers match preview

Will this be the season Rangers wrestle the title back from fierce rivals Celtic?

Following a trophless campaign, during which Michael Beale took over mid-way through, it’s been all-change in Govan.

Allan McGregor, Filip Helander, Scott Arfield, Antonio Čolak, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent have all departed this summer.

So, a new-look Rangers side will get a first competitive outing here, featuring summer editions Jack Butland, Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers, Abdallah Sima, Danilo and more.

In just four days time, the Light Blues’ Champions League campaign gets underway, welcoming Genk to Ibrox for the first leg of their third qualifying round tie.

Before then, this trip to Ayrshire will, potentially, the first of nine matches Beale’s team play between now and the first Old Firm of the campaign on 3 September, in what could be a defining month for the Gers.

Kilmarnock meantime finished tenth last season, just about staying clear of danger, with Derek McInnes’ men hoping to push on up the table this time round.

Killie were strong at home, with 80% of their points earned in front of their own supporters, but they failed to take points off either of Glasgow’s big two last season in seven attempts.

Already this time round, Kilmarnock have played four competitive games, topping their League Cup group on ten points, beating Annan, Dunfermline and Albion Rovers, but losing a shootout to Raith.

This though will be an exponentially tougher task, with Rangers likely to leave Rugby Park with all three points.
