Manchester United are back in Premier League action after a comfortable EFL Cup win last week with the Red Devils set to play hosts to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford as the away side look to navigate themselves out of the relegation zone.
Erik ten Hag’s men played against Burnley in the EFL Cup round of 16 last week, easing past the Clarets 2-0 with a goal from Christian Eriksen and a stunning solo effort from Marcus Rashford. United will now play against Charlton Athletic in the quarter-finals in early January.
Back in the Premier League, ten Hag sees his side in fifth right now with a game in hand on teams around them. What’s more, they beat Fulham away from home last time out in league action, and United have only lost four games this campaign. The inconsistencies are clear to see for ten Hag’s men, however, with them scoring 20 goals and conceding 20 too.
As for Forest, they are down in 18th and have failed to get out of the relegation zone for practically most of the season. They did manage to smash Blackburn Rovers last week in the EFL Cup round of 16, beating the Championship side 4-1. Steve Cooper also saw his side beat Valencia in a friendly during the World Cup.
Forest won their last Premier League game as well, defeating Crystal Place 1-0 at the City Ground on November 12th.
