Wolves eye up a January move for Manchester United outcast

Wolves eye up a January move for Manchester United outcast

Wolves flourishing under Bruno Lage

After a troubling start, Wolves have firmly found their feet under new manager Bruno Lage.

The Midlands outfit have won three and drawn one of their last five games, and their high-intensity pressing style has drawn admirers up and down the country. For fans watching, it is a far cry from the counter-attack football that brought them success under former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, Lage’s side are somewhat short in central midfield. At present, options stand at Leandro Dendonker, Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves, with an injury to one or more leaving the side in a spot of bother.

But have they found a solution?

Lage eyes up Van De Beek swoop

Donny Van De Beek joined Manchester United from Ajax 18 months ago, but has never really had a fair chance to demonstrate his talents. Consigned to the bench for the most part, ESPN report that he is one of several United players that have grown “frustrated” with their playing time, despite being promised more in the summer.

Should this not change, the Dutchman is keen to revitalise his career with a January move away from Old Trafford, although whether on loan or permanently is unclear.

Now, as per Birmingham Mail, Wolves could be an unlikely destination for the 24-year-old, who claim that:

“Wolverhampton Wanderers could pull off a January coup by signing Donny van de Beek from Manchester United.”

With current options in central midfield still relying heavily on the ageless Joao Moutinho, prising Van De Beek out of Old Trafford could prove a brilliant move by the Wolves hierarchy, as he will undoubtedly have plenty to prove to his former employers.
