Former Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld was responsible for one of the most memorable moments in the recent history of Belgian football, late on Sunday evening.

This comes after the defender sent Royal Antwerp to a first league title since all the way back in 1957.

In nothing short of a stunning sequence of events, within the space of five minutes, each of Union Saint-Gilloise and KRC Genk were bound for glory on the final day of the Pro League season, only for a wild injury-time swing to ultimately culminate in Antwerp reigning supreme.

And that man Alderweireld proved the hero on the night.

With his side trailing Genk by two goals to one, and a full 94 minutes on the clock, the veteran Belgian international stepped forward from his berth at the back.

From here, the ball was cleverly laid off by Jelle Bataille, allowing Alderweireld to drive a once in a lifetime effort into the far top corner of the Genk net.
