Watch: Marquinhos continues electric start to life at Arsenal with brace vs West Ham

The Brazilian was in fine form at youth level once more on Friday

The altogether impressive start to life being enjoyed by Arsenal starlet Marquinhos in north London continued late this evening.

The Gunners’ up-and-coming crop of young talent kicked their campaign into gear a short time ago.

After getting the better of Manchester United to the tune of a 3-1 triumph in their season opener last weekend, Mehmet Ali’s U21s made the trip across London, for a meeting with capital rivals West Ham United.

And, when all was said and done, Arsenal’s flying start to 2022/23 continued.

A pulsating 90 minutes at The Rush Green Stadium ultimately culminated in the Gunners emerging on the right side of a five-goal thriller.

And, as alluded to above, it was that man Marquinhos who stole the show once more.

After opening his account (and adding an assist) in the colours of the north Londoners on his debut last time out, the Brazilian went one better on Friday evening.

First, with a quarter of an hour on the clock, Marquinhos pulled Arsenal level, nodding home at the back post on the back of some fine work courtesy of James Olayinka:

Then, on the stroke of the interval, the Gunners’ latest young recruit, signed from Sao Paulo for a cut-price fee back in June, was on target once more.

Showcasing his aerial prowess once more, Marquinhos got on the end of another lofted ball from the left, to direct a fine header into the far corner:

Provider Olayinka then turned goalscorer on the other side of the interval, to guide Arsenal to an eventual 3-2 victory.
