West Ham United agree deal to sign Maxwel Cornet

West Ham United look set to sign Maxwell Cornet.

West Ham United and Maxwell Cornet have agreed a deal, according to Fabrice Hawkins.

The Hammers have been looking to sign a winger and have turned to the Ivorian.

If all goes to plan, Cornet’s move to east London could be completed as soon as today.

Cornet expected in London today

Fabrice Hawkins reports that Cornet could arrive in London today to undergo a medical with West Ham.

A few details remain between the two clubs, but West Ham are expected to pay £17.5 million, as per Sky Sports.

Between the club and player, a deal is fully agreed and could see him undergo a medical tonight.

West Ham’s move for Amadou Onana in doubt

However, this deal is now in serious doubt with David Moyes’ side unwilling to match the player’s wage demands.

The Evening Standard claim that both parties are a long way apart in their expectations of salary and bonuses.

Onana’s demands would see West Ham forced into breaking their wage structure.

Any deal would now require the player significantly bringing down his asking price.

Moyes currently has just two central midfield options in Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
