West Ham United have made contact with capital rivals Chelsea over a potential deal for a member of the club’s defensive ranks, according to reports.
The player in the sights of the Irons? Emerson Palmieri.
Left-back Emerson, of course, sealed a return to Stamford Bridge this summer, after Olympique Lyonnais opted against making their move for the Brazilian permanent.
The 28-year-old’s prospects under Thomas Tuchel, though, look altogether bleak.
As things stand, Emerson represents the 4th-choice left-back in west London, sitting behind all of Ben Chilwell, Marcos Alonso and summer arrival Marc Cucurella in the Chelsea pecking order.

In turn, it should not come as a massive surprise, on Monday, to hear of the former AS Roma man being tipped for a fresh Blues exit.
As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the powers that be at Stamford Bridge have been approached by their counterparts at West Ham, over the prospect of a swoop for Emerson.
In response, it was made clear to David Moyes and co. that a deal will only be possible in the case of a permanent offer being tabled.
It is therefore unclear whether or not the Hammers are prepared to move forward with their interest.
