Tottenham ready to make January moves but Antonio Conte reveals there’s a caveat

Tottenham are in need of January reinforcements and Antonio Conte has been speaking about the possibility of new signings arriving...

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw with Brentford on Boxing Day once again highlighted the pressing issues that remain in Antonio Conte’s squad.

For an hour, Spurs were by far second best in west London and once again had to rely on a late comeback to get anything from the match.

After the game, the Italian manager spoke about the possibility of making signings next month, however, Spurs fans were quick to pick up on one part of his response…

Conte: “If there’s the possibility, we’ll do something…”

Antonio Conte has admitted that whilst Tottenham will look to sign players next month they will do so in accordance with Spurs’ transfer policy.

That policy being signing young players who are not on massive wages.

Whilst this is not an issue, as Spurs proved last year with the signings of Kulusevski and Bentancur, it is unclear whether this will truly satisfy Conte.

So if Tottenham are to get back on track under Conte following next month’s transfer window whilst using their usual recruitment parameters, Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy will need to produce another flawless January window.

Conte told Sky Sport: “I have an excellent relationship with the club and the chairman.

“We will try to find solutions, knowing that we cannot deviate from the club’s vision.

“The club wants to do things, but with young prospects who don’t have big salaries like Kulusevski and Bentancur.

“If there’s the possibility, we’ll do something in accordance with Tottenham’s vision.”
