Manchester United have attempted to accelerate a deal for Casemiro in an attempt to have him registered in time to face Liverpool.
However, their efforts are unlikely to be rewarded with the 30-year-old not expected to receive his work permit in time, report MEN Sport.
But despite this, United look to have got their man with personal terms now agreed.
Carlo Ancelotti is understood to be unfazed by the departure of Casemiro, whilst the player himself appears to be unhappy at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The midfielder was frustrated by the arrival of Aurélien Tchouaméni who would be a direct rival to his spot in the line-up.
Los Blancos now have a plethora of midfield options which also include Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga.
