Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio in ‘advanced talks’ with next club

Real Madrid star Marco Asensio is inching towards committing to terms with another of European football’s heavyweight clubs, according to reports.

For those who may have missed it, the name of attacker Asensio has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Madrid across the day to date.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming in the Spanish media that the 27-year-old has finally come to a decision on his future.

After lengthy contract negotiations between the two parties failed to bear fruit, Asensio has opted to call time on his nine-year stint with Real Madrid.

Focus, in turn, has quickly shifted towards just where Asensio is set to land next.

A whole host of clubs from across the continent are expected to express an interest in the Spanish international, fresh off racking up a none-too-shabby 12 goals and eight assists across the season’s length.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the press late on Friday is anything to go by, then Asensio’s plans for next season may in fact already have been decided.

As per a report from ESPN, the one-time Mallorca talent is in ‘advanced talks’ to link up with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The relationship between Jorge Mendes and Luis Campos is understood to have proven key in negotiations, with PSG, as a result, ahead of all of AC Milan, Juventus and Aston Villa in the race for Asensio’s services.
