Purchase fee, contract length & wage situation: Chelsea’s deal for Denis Zakaria confirmed

The Blues have secured long-awaited reinforcements in the middle of the park

The finer details of Premier League giants Chelsea’s move for Denis Zakaria have been revealed late on Thursday evening.

For those not aware, in something of a bolt from the blue, over the course of the last hour, the transfer team at Stamford Bridge both swooped for and closed a deal for Swiss international midfielder Zakaria.

It had of course long been common knowledge that Thomas Tuchel and co. were on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park ahead of the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

With Zakaria having slipped down the pecking order in Turin owing to the respective summer additions of Paul Pogba and Leandro Paredes, and Chelsea continuing to come up short in their pursuit of alternative targets, attentions turned firmly towards the former Borussia Monchengladbach man with just hours remaining in the summer window.

With Zakaria himself keen on a move to west London, an agreement, in turn, proved altogether simple to come by.

And now, as alluded to above, an insight into some of the finer details of the now-completed transfer have been revealed.

From here, the Pensioners will have the option to make his arrival permanent, for a fee in the region of £30 million.

The details of a five-year contract have, as a result, already been ironed out between the transfer team at Stamford Bridge and the 25-year-old, with Chelsea also set to cover the entirety of Zakaria’s wages for the coming year.
