Real Sociedad have approached Manchester United to sign Donny van de Beek this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Van de Beek has two years left on his current contract, which was signed in 2020 when he made the €39m move from Ajax.
The Dutchman’s stint at Old Trafford has not gone to plan at all though.
Despite impressing with Ajax for several years, the midfielder struggled for regular minutes under Ole Gunna Solskjaer before being loaned out to Everton.
After his former boss Erik ten Hag arrived at the club last summer, it was expected Van de Beek would see more game time, but that has not proven to be the case.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Real Sociedad’s interest in the Manchester United midfielder.
Romano said: “For the upcoming week, a player I’d recommend keeping an eye on is Man United’s Donny van de Beek. Real Sociedad are insisting on bringing the midfielder to San Sebastian as part of a loan deal with an option-to-buy clause; there is no agreement yet with Man United but negotiations are ongoing.
“Donny wants to try a new experience because he needs to play regularly with the 2024 EUROS happening next summer. I think the Real Sociedad deal will be ‘make or break’ over the next 7/10 days.”
