Manchester United star could make surprise move to Chelsea

A Manchester United player has been linked with a shock move to Chelsea this summer.

According to 90Min, Manchester United outcast Harry Maguire has become a player of interest for Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino.

The news of Chelsea’s interest in Maguire comes less than 24 hours after Chelsea were handed a major blow, as it emerged that defender Wesley Fofana has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will miss much of the upcoming season.

With Kalidou Koulibaly having already left Stamford Bridge for Saudi Arabia and Cesar Azpilicueta on his way out, Fofana’s injury has left Chelsea pretty light at the back heading into the new season.

In terms of the Blues’ interest in Maguire, it is claimed that though any deal is a long way from a successful conclusion, the fact that Chelsea have enquired about Maguire’s services suggests that there could be something in a move.

A transfer could suit all parties for the right price as Manchester United no longer see Maguire as a key player and could reinvest money made from his sale elsewhere, Chelsea need a centre-back to provide cover and the player himself needs more minutes if he is to compete at Euro 2024.
