Manchester United looking to save €35m on Portuguese defender

Manchester United are eyeing a move for a quality, young centre-back this summer.

The Red Devils are expected to have a busy summer transfer window that will see at least one new central defender come through the door.

This comes with United lacking any real quality in that position outside of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

Harry Maguire is expected to leave the club in the upcoming window after being pushed to the bottom of the defensive pecking order at Manchester United.

Victor Lindelof, meanwhile, is an unreliable option who is not great when it comes to playing out from the back.

One of the players being eyed to fill this role is Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio.

According to reports coming out of Portugal, Manchester United are keen on Inacio. However, the defender has a €45m release clause in his contract, but Sporting are trying to get him to sign a new deal so that the release clause can be increased to €80m.
