Premier League hegemon Manchester City continues to be linked with outgoings this summer in the wake of Pep Guardiola’s fifth league title in the last six seasons after the club is set to bid farewell to star winger Riyad Mahrez.
The 32-year-old Algerian international has been integral to the club’s dominance of the top flight of English football since his arrival, winning four of the club’s five recent league titles as well as playing a vital role in their history treble in 2022-23.
Reports from The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirm that the Premier League champions will receive €30m + €5m in add-ons from Roshn Saudi League outfit Al-Ahli, with Mahrez set to sign on a three-year deal which could be extended an additional fourth-year at King Abdullah Sports City.
Upon officially moving to the Saudi outfit, Mahrez would become the third Premier League star captured by Al Malaki this summer across a broader transfer landscape that sees the top sides in the Gulf Kingdom continue to prize away top talent from the European game.
Liverpool cult hero Roberto Firmino (free), and Senegalese keeper Édouard Mendy (€18.5m), have also joined the big four club, with City now expecting to not only fight tooth and nail to keep Portuguese star Bernardo Silva at the Etihad this season but also target the right-wing birth at the Etihad for reinforcement.
