Man United latest: Cash-plus-player bid readied for Rice as deadline set for Mount deal

A pair of updates on the summer plans of the transfer team at Premier League giants Manchester United have been forthcoming on Thursday evening.

The first surrounds the club’s ongoing pursuit of Chelsea star Mason Mount.

It is of course common knowledge that England international Mount has long been identified by Erik ten Hag and co. as the missing piece of the midfield puzzle at Old Trafford.

Ahead of the expiration of his contract at Stamford Bridge in 12 months’ time, talks, in turn, have long been kicked into gear between the respective boards at United and Chelsea.

Despite Mount himself being keen on the prospect of a move to Manchester, however, to this point, no deal has been struck.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the patience of the negotiating team at Old Trafford appears to be wearing increasingly thin.

Should as much fail to come to fruition, then the Reds could pull the plug, to focus their attentions on other targets.

And one such alternative midfield target, it would appear, comes in the form of Declan Rice.

West Ham United standout Rice is of course in high demand heading into the summer, with both Arsenal and Manchester City eyeing the signature of the 24-year-old.

United, though, have too been tipped as a potential landing spot, albeit altogether more tentatively.

And now, the Red Devils appear primed to step up their pursuit.

According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, a head-turning cash-plus-player proposal for Rice is in the pipeline.

The offer in question would consist of a £40 million base, alongside both Harry Maguire, and Anthony Elanga.

It remains to be seen whether such an exchange would interest the powers that be at West Ham.
