Liverpool want to sign midfielder dubbed ‘new Luka Modric’

Liverpool need to strengthen in midfield ahead of next season.

Liverpool’s biggest weakness this season has been their midfield. Jurgen Klopp built his success at Liverpool around a fast, powerful, pressing midfield, which mainly consisted of Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

However, Wijnaldum has now left, Henderson is not the player he once was and Fabinho has also put in some questionable displays over the last few months.

A number of Liverpool’s current midfielders are also expected to leave the club this summer.

James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out of contract at the end of the season and are expected to depart.

As a result, fresh legs will be needed in the summer and a new name has now been touted.

Liverpool have been linked with an £18m swoop for highly-rated Croatia midfielder, Luka Sucic.

The 20-year-old joined RB Salzburg in 2020 and is closing in on a century of appearances for the Austrian outfit.

In said games, he has scored 13 and assisted 10. Luka Sucic has also impressed in the Champions League this term, including in ties vs Chelsea.
