Liverpool submit £26m offer for Serie A star

Liverpool have been linked with a new name on Wednesday.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Liverpool have submitted an opening £26m offer to sign Perr Schuurs this summer.

It is added that the Reds hold a long-term interest in the Dutchman as the Merseyside club were linked with a move for him last summer. But they never formalised their interest and his current team, Torino, purchased the defender from Ajax Amsterdam in an £8m deal.

Now, Torino have rejected the £26m bid from Liverpool as they want at least £34m to let their star man leave.

Perr Schuurs is under contract with the Serie A side until 2026. He made 36 appearances during his debut campaign in Italy, scoring one and assisting two.

The 23-year-old is a centre-back by trade, so would likely come in to replace one of Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Neither player was in great form last season and with Liverpool aiming to get back into the Champions League places next season, they need to improve their backline.
