Liverpool prepare a third and final bid for Southampton starlet Roméo Lavia

The 19-year-old Belgian international has been one of the most sought-after midfielders in England after his impressive 2022-23 campaign at St. Mary’s Stadium, with the Reds looking to finally meet Saints’ valuation.

The search for midfield additions at Anfield continues to dominate much of the transfer rhetoric around Merseyside this summer, and Liverpool could be set to move toward finally securing a valued central acquisition for Jürgen Klopp in the vein of Southampton starlet Roméo Lavia.

In the latest update from highly-reliable Belgian football insider Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool is prepared to make a final offer for the Brussels-born RSC Anderlecht and Manchester City academy standout.

The 19-year-old Belgian international has been one of the most sought-after midfielders in England after his impressive 2022-23 campaign at St. Mary’s Stadium, with the Reds looking to finally meet Saints’ £40m valuation, with Lavia keen on making the move.

Per Tavolieri’s update, “There’s a feeling that Klopp’s team is the only squad able to do such an offer at that moment. Dialogue remains open as Southampton won’t let leave his biggest sale of the year with the financial impact of relegation.

Thus far this summer, Liverpool has seen Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keïta, and James Milner depart the club, and thus far has seen fit to replace the outgoings with Hungarian star Dominik Szoboszlai as well as Argentine international and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister.

Should the club finally agree to terms with Lavia, the young Belgian would no doubt immediately come into the team in a deep-lying role at the base of the midfield in Klopp’s 4-3-3.
