Liverpool looking to sign relegated defender

Liverpool are set to pick the bones of Southampton following their relegation.

After a woeful season with three different permanent managers, Southampton were the first side relegated from the Premier League on Saturday.

The Saints fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Fulham and will now be plying their trade in the Championship next campaign.

Following their relegation, they are expected to lose several of their better players.

And on Monday, it is being reported that defender Duje Caleta-Car is said to be on Liverpool’s shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

Having signed him for £8m last September, the Saints could get a sale fee similar to that with the price not too hefty and with them going down a division.

Liverpool and Southampton have an interesting relationship, which has previously seen the Reds targeting their top players after a good season.
