An update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga has been provided.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 21-year-old midfielder is ready for the next step in his career and talks have taken place with Liverpool recently.
Veiga has a release clause of €40m in his contract and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool are prepared to pay up.
The 21-year-old had an impressive campaign with Celta Vigo, in which he scored 11 goals and picked up four assists across all competitions.
It is added that the midfielder is likely to move after the under-21 European Championships this summer. But it remains to be seen whether Liverpool come forward with a concrete proposal for the player.
The Reds have signed 2022 World Cup winner Alexis Mac Alister from Brighton already this summer but will need at least one more midfielder through the door as they attempt to rebuild, and once again challenge in the top-four along with Arsenal and Manchester City.
